GERRARD WANTS NEWCASTLE WINGER AT RANGERS
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is reportedly interested in signing Jacob Murphy from Premier League club Newcastle United in the summer. According to the recent report from the stables of the Football Insider, Gerrard wants Murphy in his Rangers team in time for the new season.
Newcastle United would let the player leave in the summer if they receive at least £3m for him as per the reports from the abovementioned media outlet.
In a recent interview with Football Insider, ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor said that the 26-year-old Murphy would be a very good addition to the Rangers squad under Steven Gerrard. According to him, Jacob and his twin brother Josh have always been talented but they have not been able to kick on like they should.
Agbonlahoradded that Steven Gerrard will get the best out of Murphy as a squad player at Rangers if the newly crowned Scottish Premiership champions can beat the Saints to his signing in the summer.
Murphy has been involved in the fight for Premier League survival at Newcastle United. He made a telling contribution in the penultimate league game at Burnleyscoring the equaliser in the second half as the Magpies came from a goal down at the break to beat their hosts 2-1.
French winger Allan Saint-Maximin provided the assist for Murphy to score the equaliser after the Clarets had taken the lead in the first half through Czech Republic international MatejVydra and he went on to score the winner with a fantastic solo goal to lift the Magpies further away from trouble.
