AIMING TO WIN
The Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has told Liverpool news that the team should win against Norwich city during the weekend at all costs. Liverpool into the match against Norwich having taken just two points from the possible 15 in the first few weeks of the campaign. As a result, they are currently in the 17th position in the table.
It will take a lot of effort to get back into the top half of the table. There is already a gap forming between Liverpool and other teams in the top half of the table. Liverpool coming to the match after having lost the last match with Manchester United.
There seems to be no improvement since the arrival of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, although Steven Gerrard has said that the team has been extremely unlucky in getting decisions going their way in the matches. Liverpool were not given a clear-cut penalty in the match against Manchester United, while the opposition were granted a very soft penalty. This turned the match on its head according to the manager Brendan Rodgers, who has said that it will be only a matter of time before Liverpool players start simulating in order to get decisions their way.
“We have a run of games coming up now where there are points we should be taking but the longer it [not winning] goes on the more difficult it is going to get, so it is important against Norwich we take maximum points. I think what we need to do is keep playing like we have done and hopefully we’ll get the rub of the green, get referees’ decisions in our favour and we will go on and take maximum points,” said Steven Gerrard ahead of the week’s match with Norwich. Following this match, Liverpool will be focusing their attention on the Europa league encounter.
