GERRARD LEADS RANGERS TO TITLE 55
Steven Gerrard is a hero for Liverpool fans and he might be something similar at Rangers after he led the club to end the domestic dominance of arch rivals Celtic and win a first league title in ten years for his club in the process. It is safe to say that Steven Gerrard has become a hero at Rangers after masterminding the league title triumph at the expense of Celtic. Steven Gerrard has been able to lead Rangers to league title no. 55. Celtic had won the last nine league titles and club fans had even taunted Rangers about the dethroned Scottish Premiership champions going for a tenth straight league title but that won’t be possible thanks to Steven Gerrard and his players.
Gerrard had moved a step closer to leading Rangers to the league title with the win over St. Mirren yesterday. Rangers thrashed their guests 3-0 at home to ensure that league title number 55 would be sealed if Celtic were not able to beat hosts Dundee United on Sunday and that was what happened. Celtic could only play out a goalless draw with Dundee United thereby handing the league title to Steven Gerrard and his Rangers players. For the game against St. Mirren, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and IanisHagi were all on target for Rangers. Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos scored for Rangers within the space of two minutes in the first half before IanisHagi wrapped up the win with his goal at the start of the second half. Rangers had been in the shadows of Celtic over the last decade but thanks to Steven Gerrard, the glory days are coming back to the club. After the league title has been confirmed, Steven Gerrard would be quick to shift the focus of his team to the Europa League last 16 tie with Czech team Sparta Prague. Rangers are guests of the Czech Republic club in the first leg this week before they host the second leg next week.
